Gainesville cadet color guard best in CAP
Cadets Dillon Willis, Tyler Gwynn, Justin Tuttle and MaryElizabeth
Dowell took honors as the best cadet color guard in Civil Air Patrol in
late June at the National Cadet Competition in Oregon. The cadets are
members of Gainesville Composite Squadron in Florida Wing’s Group 2.
The best color guard in Southeast Region goes on to snag the U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Sweepstakes Trophy in Oregon in late June. See more...

Group 1 member's volunteerism honored

British cadets tour Florida, work alongside CAP
Twenty Royal Air Force cadets toured aerospace sites across Florida and volunteered to help alongside CAP members at the annual Sun 'n Fun Fly-In, held in April at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport.

Florida Wing Receives National Recognition for Superior Performance
Lt Col John Lynn, Director of Aerospace Education for the Florida Wing, and Lt Col Michael Cook, Vice Commander of the Florida Wing, hold four prestigious awards presented to Florida During the National Conference.
San Antonio, TX — September 3, 2009 — Florida Wing received top awards in all mission areas at the National Conference held in San Antonio, Texas. Three of the four awards presented were for first place in the Southeast Region for Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs and Disaster Relief programs. The forth award was National recognition of Florida's excellent Aerospace Education Program which ranked second place in the nation.

Blue Angels Visit Local Civil Air Patrol Squadron

Pensacola, FL — June 9, 2009 — two members of the US Navy’s Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team visited the Pensacola Composite Squadron. The two members, Maintenance Officer LT Manual Sanchez, USN, and Major Nathan Miller, USMC, spent two hours talking about their careers and what it is like being on the Blue Angels team. After their presentation, they posed for photos, signed autographs, and spoke one-on-one with many of the cadets. The visit was arranged by Cadet 2nd Lt Seth Davis of the Pensacola Composite Squadron.
